Mt. Rushmore - Before/After
I usually do not like to process my photos this heavily but for some reason, I liked the effect I got with this photo.
Here is the SOOC (straight out of camera) version:
I used PS Elements 7.
- Opened the image in RAW and made corrections for exposure, contrast, vibrance and clarity.
- Applied two textures from ShadowHouse Creations:
- "Ruffed up 7" in Hard Light mode at 75% opacity
- "Tone Texture 4" in Linear Light mode at 100% opacity
- Slightly masked out a little texture on the faces of the monument
- Slightly adjusted Saturation for the individual color channels
- Flattened, resized for Web, and converted to Jpeg
And here is a side-by-side comparison:

Pretty cool! I usually don't like to get too artsy with my photos either but sometimes a photo just begs for something more unique. I love what you did with this.
Can you believe I've never been to Mt Rushmore? I've been all over the world but seem to have seriously neglected the major landmarks in the USA.

Very bold and cool!!! Love it.
Very bold! It reminds me of a colored Linotype that could have been done when Mt. Rushmore was being constructed. I like it!
Very nice...I grew up less than a 100 miles from Mt. Rushmore and so I've seen so many pictures of it...it is nice to see one that I actually enjoy looking at. Your edit is fabulous!!! Nice job.
